The Cigar:

The unique ‘extra fermentation’ that is conducted on the Seco and Legero of all Cohibas lasts for eighteen months and is conducted at the factory in cedar barrels. This extra age creates a unique taste. The famous Cohiba flavour is most often described as ‘Grassy’, although others have noticed tones of vanilla, cocoa and coffee. It is often noted how this extra fermentation makes the taste ‘smoother’ and more refined.

Min Ron NEE, in his book An Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Post-Revolution Havana Cigars says of the Siglo range “Mild, creamy sweetness, medium bean flavour, subtle ‘Cohiba’ Grassy taste, mild floral and herbal flavours.”.

In 2001, Habanos S.A. introduced the Habanos Collection (Colección Habanos) series.

Obras Completas - Collection Book (2011): It is a very special issue that celebrates the uninterrupted presence of Colección Habanos during ten years in all markets worldwide.

It has been called “Obras Completas” because it contains 30 Habanos: 3 vitolas of each one of the former editions. These were exclusive for each volume and most of them were unique to the brand.

Cuaba, Salomones (56 ring gauge x184 mm) was the vitola selected for making up the first Volume of the Colección Habanos in 2001, of which only 300 units were made. It is a majestic “double-figurado” Habano.

Partagás, Serie C No.1 (48 ring gauge x 170 mm) in 2002, the Volume II of the Colección Habanos, of which only 300 units were made, was dedicated to the Partagas brand, particularly to its “Series” renowned and admired all over the world.

Hoyo de Monterrey, Extravaganza (50 ring gauge x 180 mm) for the Volume III of the Colección Habanos 2003 only 500 units were made. It is a true exponent of the best characteristics of the Hoyo de Monterray blend, created to satisfy the most demanding smokers who prefer the Habanos of elegant flavor and taste.

Romeo y Julieta, Fabulosos No 6 (52 ring gauge x 180 mm) is a vitola that was especially made for the Volume III of the Colección Habanos 2004, of which only 500 numbered units were made.

Montecristo, Maravillas No1 (55 ring gauge x 182 mm) vitola, probably Habanos’best-known brand, became part of the Colección Habanos. With this Volume V of the Colección, of which only 500 numbered units were made. It was the 70th anniversary of the brand in 2005.

Trinidad, Torre Iznaga (52 ring gauge x 170) Volume VI of the Colección Habanos, of which only 500 numbered units were made, was a tribute to the Trinidad brand. The selected vitola, being of straight format with the classic a “pigtail”, stands out for maintaining the classic medium flavor of the Habanos that make up this brand aroma.

H.Upmann, Mágnum Especial (55 ring gauge x 170) was the vitola selected for making up Volume VII of the Colección Habanos 2007 of which only 500 numbered units were made. It is a format containing the essential characteristics of the H. Upmann brand.

Cohíba, Sublimes Extra (54 ring gauge x 184 mm) for the Volume VIII of the Colección Habanos 2008 the vitola Sublimes Extra from Cohiba was selected to honor its name. Its beauty is supported by these exceptional dimensions, as well as the balance of its unique blend. Because of the exceptional acceptance had in the different markets, the production of this Colección was extended for the first time to 1,000 numbered units.

San Cristóbal de La Habana, O´Reilly (56 ring gauge x 160 mm) is the vitola that gave prestige to the Volume IX of the Colección Habanos 2009 of which 1000 numbered units were made. This format paid tribute to one of the streets of La Habana Vieja (Old Havana) and to the 10thanniversary of the creation of San Cristobal de La Habana brand.

Bolívar, Gran Belicoso ( cepo 54 x 184 mm) this impressive Bolivar vitola´s blend is a faithful expression of the Habanos preferred by those connoisseurs who like intense flavors. Gran Belicoso, a figurado format, highlighted the Volume X of the Colección Habanos 2010 of which 1000 numbered units were made.

Last year, at the XXI Festival del Habano, the Trinidad brand was honouredas part of its 50th anniversary festivities. It was also an opportunity for Habanos to present a wave of new products, including a new volume of the Colección Habanos: the Trinidad Casilda.

For lovers of Cuban cigars, each edition of the Colección Habanos is a true object of desire due to its rarity and to the expertise used to create it. This is the first time that an edition of the Colección Habanos contains so many cigars. We were getting requests for a traditional Italian style espresso. This made us nervous as cheap Italian espresso blends can be bitter from over roasting and cheap robusta.

So we set about making a much higher quality version, an elegant modern interpretation in the Dark Woods style.

The blend starts with specialty arabicas from South America and India. Finally, we add in the very best quality robusta from the award-winning Harley Estate in India. It’s just mid roast resulting in a smooth rich bodied espresso that will make people reassess this style.

With a medium roast, Deer Hill delivers a soft, but full-bodies espresso with notes of fudge, toasted nuts and milk chocolate.

Good high altitude washed Central American coffees are taken on a little in the roast to develop body and to add depth and sweetness to this robust and tasty blend. Less fruit-driven than our house Colombian coffee, El Jordan, Good Morning Sunshine is a familiar coffee treated with uncommon love and respect. Because sometimes you just want a coffee that tastes, well, like coffee.

Not so much stuck between extremes as offering the best of both, Milk Wood was not only the first blend we roasted but the concept around which Dark Woods was built. A medium roast delivers familiar caramel sweetness but adventurous sourcing takes it beyond the perceived limits of this style. Validation of our approach arrived in 2016 when Milk Wood won a prestigious Golden Fork for best Northern Product in the Great Taste Awards.

Awarded a 3-star award and the “Golden Fork” in the 2016 Great Taste Awards for the best product in the North of England; it has also won a great taste award in 2017 & 2018.

This espresso blend is designed to melt into milk to give you a wonderfully caramel flavoured cappuccino, using high-grade single estate coffees to deliver familiar flavours rather than challenge.The roast level is carefully balanced to avoid the bitter flavours associated with some tradition style espresso blends, or acidity of some lighter blends, letting the sweetness shine through. Under milk Wood is very versatile and works well as a filter coffee too, in cafetieres and drip filters.
